Which Vacuum Cleaner Bag Should You Get?If you're thinking about buying a vacuum cleaner, you should be aware that you're also buying into the cost of bags. What kind of vacuum cleaner you should get will depend on what kind of vacuum cleaner bag you can afford to buy on a regular basis. Most of the time, the vacuum cleaner bag you are getting should correspond to the brand of vacuum cleaner you are buying. Manufacturers have made it a point to create bags that uniquely fit the different cleaner models that they make. A canister vacuum will require a different bag, for example, than an upright bag, but the brand of bag that you get will sometimes still make a difference. You may encounter bags that are labeled Type S, A, C, or U. These letters refers to the make of the bag. Type A is commonly classified as "short," while S is classified as anti-allergenic - these are bags that are especially designed to prevent smaller bits of dust and dirt from escaping, thus minimizing the risk of contracting allergies indoors. The sizes and kinds of bags will depend on their use. Heavy cleansing will require sturdier and larger bags, of course. Not to fear: many vacuums that require bags now come with indicators that will alert you when it is time to change your bag. Depending on the type of vacuum cleaner you choose, the kind of bag you buy and the amount of dirt you have to clear regularly, replacing your bag could range from once or twice a year, to once a week! There are bags that are made of different kinds of material as well. Paper bags are becoming more and more common, as they are more earth-friendly and relatively sturdy enough to handle long-term use. If we're talking about earth-friendliness though, you may wish to consider bagless vacuums, or the so-called cyclonic cleaners. Cyclonic vacuums distinguish themselves from traditional vacuums by employing reusable containers instead of disposable bags to trap dirt. But while such machines boast of a modern design, smaller households may still benefit more from relatively more economical upright vacuums. When choosing a vacuum cleaner bag, you should take the kind of vacuum you have into consideration. |
