What Venturi Vacuum Cleaners Can Do

Venturi vacuum cleaners were developed based on an effect categorized as a special case of Bernoulli’s principle. The principle is explained as a fluid or air flow that passes through a constricted tube or pipe. The fluid, in this instance, must speed up in the restriction to reduce its pressure and produce a partial vacuum via the Bernoulli effect.

Venturi vacuum cleaners are not the only examples of manifestations of this effect. Experimental apparatus such as Venturi tubes and orifice plates are also examples of how the Venturi effect works. This effect is also visible in the capillaries of the human circulatory system, in large cities where the wind is forced between huge buildings and in water aspirators that produce partial vacuum from a water spigot.

One of the commercial machines that make use of the Venturi principle is the PF70 models. These machines feature Vibra-Flite II agitators for increased dirt pick-up ability and Vacucide with Venturi Vibra-Kleen. They also feature rubber shock absorbers and metal brush roll assemblies that have replaceable brush strips. The PF70 machines use standard Sanitaire replacement parts. The products have a list price of $300.

NIKRO Industries is another manufacturer of Venturi effect-featured vac cleaners. The Venturi series from the company have no moving parts and offer top suction ability. The products are designed for heavy duty industrial cleaning and material handling operations. All models under the NIKRO Venturi series are offered with optional HEPA filtration and can be bought in series with a 15-gallon compressed air spec or a 55-gallon drum specification.
