Models of ATEX Approved Vacuum Cleaner MachinesATEX approved vacuum cleaner machines are vacs that comply with the European Union’s Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Directive. The directive provides the technical requirements for equipment designed to be used in potentially explosive environments. Under the directive, ATEX approved vacuum cleaner machines can be marketed by their manufacturers in Europe without any further requirements being applied. The main benefit to companies of being able to market their products in the region is complete access to the largest Single Market in the world which includes over 450 million potential consumers. One of the better known companies that manufacture ATEX compliant vacs is the British firm Morclean Ltd. The firm offers the KAV 15-45 and KAV 18-45 series of industrial vacuum machines. The series is available in Dry Pick Up and Wet and Dry versions. All models under the KAV series can be used in Gas Zone 1 and Dust Zone 21 specified in the ATEX directive. They are fully earth bonded and feature a conductive vacuum hose and air supply hose. Another example of Morclean’s compliant vacs is the NA 3400 series. This machine has been approved for use in environments with explosive dust. It features a washable M-class PET fleece filter, a speed governor, a SoftStart motor and an anti-static discharge that prevents sparks or shocks. The product weighs 26 kgs. and has an air flow rate of 3400 I/min. Another British firm that offers these directive-compliant machines is CFM Industrial Vacuums. One of CFM’s models is the 3156 ATEX. The model is suitable for dust zone 21 and 22 and gas zone 1 and 2 environments. It features a three-phase motor and has a product weight of 72 kgs. The 3156 is available in Z21, Z22, Z2, MAG1 and MAG1 DEX versions. Meanwhile, CFM’s 3707/10 ATEX vacuum has been designed to fit dust zone 22 environments and to have the ability to collect at high speed large quantities of dirt and other materials. The product is available in Z22 version. ATEX approved vacuum cleaner machines have been introduced in the European market after the implementation of the directive on July 1, 2003. The models of this type of vac machines have gained a steady following and they continue to increase their share of the cleaning equipment market. |
